Digital nomad visa for Colombia, 2026

Who the V digital-nomad visa is for, minimum income evidence and its work restrictions.

Last reviewed: October 29, 2026

What is this visa?

The V digital nomad category covers eligible foreign remote workers, entrepreneurs and independent contractors conducting remote activity from Colombia for employers or clients abroad. It is a visitor visa category, not a general work permit for Colombian employers.

2026 income requirement

The Cancillería asks for bank documentation showing income of at least three monthly legal minimum wages during the previous three months. Based on the 2026 SMMLV of 1,750,905 COP, three SMMLV equals 5,252,715 COP. How officials assess a particular applicant’s evidence is a case-specific determination; this guide does not guarantee eligibility.

Documents and restrictions

The official page describes work-activity evidence and a health insurance policy with coverage in Colombia. This visa does not allow paid work or remunerated activity with a natural or legal person domiciled in Colombia. Check nationality eligibility and beneficiary conditions on the visa page.

How long is the visa valid?

Cancillería describes a maximum validity of up to two years, subject to individual approval. If you only plan a short visit and are from a visa-exempt nationality, an entry permit may cover your initial stay, subject to immigration conditions.
